Another One From the Vault
Another classic TV ad.
I just saw a picture of John Daly wearing a pair of Loud Mouth Golf pants at a pro-am event. They look amazing, even on him.
It took me a long time, but I finally figured out why my bike helmet has a visor on it. For a long time I thought it was to keep the sun out of your eyes. Maybe, but this morning I found the true reason. As I was commuting to work I happened upon a snow storm. Blowing wind, large flakes of snow and dark ominous clouds. Since I conveniently left my sun spectacles at the last cook out I went to I was having some issues seeing through the blowing snow and dust. Fortunately, I had my trusty visored helmet on! I think it is safe to say it saved my life. Plus, when coupled with a balaclava it is incredibly warm.
So don’t let me hear anyone complaining about riding in inclement weather. If you don’t have the right gear let me know. I can recommend a few things.

I’d love to say that Alby freaked out, quit his job, moved to the south and started working at the Waffle House, but he would get mad at me and make me change it. Something about ruining his sterling, professional image yada yada yada.
Well, I wouldn’t want to do that so I will tell you the truth about this picture. Alby is eating a batch of pancakes (at a Waffle House) while discussing his late night at a Casino in Bay St. Louis Mississippi. I don’t know who gave him that hate, but if you are dumb enough to order a pancake at a place called the Waffle House you should get anything but a smack in the head.

I don’t presume to know how the rest of the world celebrates the coming of spring. Frankly, due to the unpredictable weather here in the Tetons we take any good day we can get. Yesterday was one of those days and today is supposed to be the same. 65 and sunny is a good day anytime of year here let alone in April. So last night, some of the gang got together and made some delicious Mexican inspired grub. We served up spicy margaritas using the marinated tequila we have been brewing up and had some delicious tacos trimmed out with the freshest veggies available in WY this time of year. The gathering was for a friends birthday, but the beautiful weather seemed to bring another layer of excitement to the occasion. Nothing beats enjoying a nice margarita on the deck while you watch the last few rays of sunshine set on the valley.
I love the picture above. I wish the counter looked like this all the time. I am a little embarrased by the margarita mix though. There are a bunch of lemons and limes in that plastic bag I promise.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate an occasion with friends than with crazy pants. I mean really, look at these guys. They are having a good time. These shots were taken at a Crawfish boil in Bay St. Louis Mississippi two weekends ago. I don’t know what the brides family thought when all the northererns showed up in ridiculous pants, but I’ll tell you what they were a great ice breaker. The pants are made by Loud Mouth Golf. Not only do they look great, but they are the perfect weight for walking a golf course in warm weather, or hanging out in swamp. If you are seriously considering a pair, I recommend one of there white belts as well. It really pulls the whole outfit together.
Congrats, to Aaron and Jessica for a tremendous wedding. Or should I say Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Bilotta.

Just received an update from Steph over at the Friends of Pathways. Here is a brief summary on the status of pathway cleaning:
All this late snow has been giving the crews trouble. Looks like we will just have to keep skiing for a little while longer. Or maybe go for a ride out down the Elk Refuge road if you have to get on the bike.
Due to some poor accounting by your’s truly I was forced to break a rule that I set for myself some time ago. Today I broke down and bought a case of Ramen Noodles. I told myself I would never do this once I graduated from college. The catalyst for this momentous event was that I decided that it was more important to pay my taxes than eat a sandwich for lunch for a week or two. Oh well, I’m not going to let it get me down, because I can go skiing after work today! Things could be worse. Plus, I don’t need to take the time to add salt to any food for awhile, as I will be getting all the sodium I need in this one handy little packet.

The Perm just sent me this picture. I love it because there is really know way to know if it was taken recently or 10 years ago. If you are a total ski junky you might be able to figure out that the subject is on a pair of Rossi Megabangs. It was a tele/at version of one of the XXX’s, but I would guess they are 6 or 7 years old. The Life-Link pack is clearly faded and they haven’t made that model for many years. I got mine in 2000 so I would bet the one shown is older than that. I need to clarify the vintage on the jacket, but I think it is the original Cloudveil Serendipity jacket.
Regardless of production year, most of these items are almost as timeless as the man wearing them. Keep on trucking Tate.
I stole the name for this post from Pro Skier Kina Picket who has dreamed of making a ski film showcasing the Mono-Ski. Why do I bring this up? Mainly because today I found myself in a 30 year old Bogner one piece ski suit, 4 year, beginner, rental ski boots and John Deer car racing helmet standing atop the Jackson Hole Mountain with a Monoski strapped to my feet. I’m sure it was a funny site, but if the thoughts in my head could have been broadcast to the world I think it would have added a nice dialogue.
With a combination of fear and intrigue I pushed off with both feet strapped to my borrowed Monoski and set forth on my 4,000 vertical foot journey to the bottom of the mountain. It took a few turns to figure out the phenomenon that is monoskiing which forces you to use your outside edge verses your inside edge. I was able to link my turns most of the way down Rendezvous bowl and eventually I made it back to TVS. Thanks to the Jackson Hole Ski Patrol for strapping me to the monoski and pushing off into a whole new world of excitement. I might keep the board for the rest of the weekend.
For those of you with access to a monoski do whatever you have to do to get it on the hill. It will change your whole perspective.
