Yes, our recent foray into twitter has hit a new milestone.  Today we reached 300 followers and climbing.  We are not using any fancy service to get us tweeps.  We simply follow who we want to follow and talk about new products, deals and most importantly our thoughts, feelings and activities at any given moment.  We want you all to feel like a part of the Worldwide Webquarters posse.

You can help. Seriously, help.

June 29th, 2009

I don’t know much about bike parks.  I haven’t ridden on one since I was 6.  Wait I do know something about bike parks.  They are RAD!  Fun for kids of all ages and a great activity to get your kids involved in.  I mean seriously, I used to ride one when I was 6 and look how I turned out.  Hmmm, I okay so maybe that isn’t the best pitch, but bike parks are a good cause.  If you agree then Victor Velo could use your help.  This non-profit group “exists to promote healthy lifestyles and economic development in Victor, ID by providing diverse cycling opportunities.”  Sounds like a great cause to me.  As luck would have it Victor Velo’s current goal is to build a Bike Park.  What are the odds that I would be writing a blog about bike parks that just happens to correspond with this project.  Freaky!

bike-park-schemeAbove is a schematic of the bike park that Victor Velo is building in Victor ID.  The group is asking for help to accomplish their goal of building a sick bike park.  I have no permission to post any of this, but I figured the group wouldn’t mind if I tried to help get the word out.  Below are details about the project and how you can help.

Victor Bike Park Project

“Victor Velo, an Idaho Non‐Profit, has the City of Victor’s approval to develop a bike park within the boundaries of Pioneer Park. An in‐town bike park is designed to pack as much fun as possible into a small space while teaching the youth of Victor Idaho about the lifetime sport of cycling. Victor Velo’s vision for a bike park has been adopted as key part of the Pioneer Park Master Plan at the recent Pioneer Park planning workshops.
Victor Velo will begin the construction of a pump track & set of dirt jumps as the next step towards a multi‐discipline cycling facility unique to Southeast Idaho. A pump track is a cycling feature that looks similar to a skate board park, but made of dirt, and is designed to accommodate cyclists of all ages and skill levels.”

Equipment we will need from July 16th ‐21st

• 125‐200 Excavator ‐ 2 days
• 1 Loader ‐ 2 days
• 1 Mini Excavator (preferably tracked) ‐3 days
• 1 Skid Steer ‐ 3 Days
•1 Plate tamper – 2 Days
•1 Old quad, manual with clutch and 2 wheel drive

I don’t want to speak for the group any more than I already have so here is a list of wonderful people to contact if you have questions or would like to help out.  Thanks for listening.

JARTS–FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

June 29th, 2009

It’s official!  The first game of Jarts has been thrown and no one went to the hospital.  For those of you who are not savvy in the world of yard games, the pointed lawn dart or “Jart” was banned for sale in the U.S. on December 19, 1988 by the Consumer Product Safety Commission—even though the box they came in said fun for the whole family.  Not only did I win my first match but I also found that my Chaco, Flip sandal worked perfectly with the new throw I’ve been working on to destroy Ned this summer in Michigan.  http://www.tetonvillagesports.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=TVS&Product_Code=Flip&Category_Code=

Have a great week.

What We Did Today

June 26th, 2009

Some of you might not appreciate what it takes to run the greatest website ever!  Sometimes you have to be creative and think outside of the box.  Here are a couple of pictures of items we utilized at the Worldwide Webquarters today.  You probably don’t use these at your office on a day to day basis, but then again you probably don’t do a lot of things we do around here either.

Weird Web Pages

June 25th, 2009

Google Analytics is an interesting tool.  It allows you to look at all kinds of cool numbers involving your website.  Of feature is the keyword report.  This report has several functions, but basically it tracks the search words that people used in order to find you site.  For some reason in the past 30 days people have really been searching for a person by the name of Emery Hemmings.  66 people have come to our website because they searched for Emery’s name.  This isn’t totally random.  Emery is a friend of TVS and her sister is our women’s clothing buyer.  So it makes some since, but since there is no real content on our site to support these searchers it is odd.

Well we fixed that problem.  We gave Emery her own web page.  It is still under construction, but you can see it here.

I have also added a few other weird pages.

Micro Update

June 23rd, 2009

micro-outdoorsJust when I thought all hope was lost for today’s blog post Duffy McGee saved the day.  It has been a while since we checked in with the Mountainscapes crew to see what or where they are eating.  Today it looks like they have plugged the micro into someones outdoor kitchen.  I can’t tell if they are  in Tucker Ranch or Bar BC.  Difficult to judge by the angle of the photo.

teton-microRegardless, these pictures sure make you want to quit your office job and grab a shovel don’t they.

Always Be Prepared

June 22nd, 2009

hoback-rainWe have a saying around here that is a mantra of Repair Superstar Mitch Luedloff.  The saying goes: “It is better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it”.  Sounds silly, but when you head out into the great wilderness that is the Rocky Mountain West they are words to live by.  Fortunately, for the two women shown above they happened to be rafting with people who take this mantra to heart.  Their rafting companions had enough spare jackets for everyone in the boat.  Which was good because shortly after putting onto the river a rain/hail storm blew through the area. Thunder, lightning pouring rain and small hailstones make for a fun adventure if you are prepared.  If not it can be miserable and possibly dangerous.

So let this be a leason to everyone.  If you are going into the wilderness on an adventure bring everything you might need in case the weather goes south.  Or bring people who will have extra gear for you.

Father’s Day Cookout Inspiration

June 19th, 2009

baconNot sure what to do for dad on his day?  Well I suggest a nice cook out with the family and plenty of bacon.  I have provided inspiration.  Need something new?  Try grilling the bacon along with thick slices of red onion and serving them over your favorite cut of meat.  Marinates elk round steak seems to work well.

Taste Test

June 18th, 2009

If you have been listening to local radio you might have heard that Cutty’s is claiming to have the best cheeseburger in the valley.  When I heard this I thought Pete must have lost his mind.  There are some amazing cheeseburgers in this town.  So rather than just poo-pooing the statement and writing Cutty’s off as just a bunch of crazy people with great drink specials I decided to put the burger to the test.  The Webquarters gang took a rare lunch field trip to Cutty’s and picked up 3 bacon cheeseburgers to go.  Here are the thoughts of three people who love cheeseburgers:

1. Great poppy seed bun, but a little too big for the burger.

2. The Bacon is great

3. Good flavor to the burger.  Sadly, due to local rules the burger was overcooked but I don’t blame Cutty’s for this.

4. Most of us loved the fries.  Especially with the sea salt.  One reviewer commented that they don’t like the hand cut skin on fires.  That’s just a little preference thing.  Personally, I like them.  You don’t see them enough.

5. Would be great with a brew.

All and all we would definitely do the Cutty’s burger again.  I don’t think I would call it the best burger in the valley, but due to Cutty’s reasonable price at $9 compared to some of the competition’s prices at anywhere from $16-$25 for premium burgers I think Cutty’s can make a claim to have one of the best burgers in the valley.  Go eat one and leave a comment to this post.
