F.O.D. C/O Mahi Gold Fishing Charters
Duffy McGee was lucky enough to hit the high seas with Capt’n Kenny Halladay of Mahi Gold Fishing Charter in Cape Cod Mass. They boated two tuna before having to rescue another vessel that was having engine trouble. I can’t wait to eat some of this tuna when I arrive in Beantown tomorrow night! I hope Duffy puts it in a Yeti Cooler. Yeti Coolers keep everything cold forever. They might even make one big enough for this big ol’ bluefin tuna. Details on Mahi Gold Charters to follow.
Cartoons
There must be some website out there on the net (I am calling it the net again because it is old school. Like email) that allows people to make cartoon versions of themselves or others. Huddle, which would be considered an alias for the person who sent me these cartoon versions of Alby and I if she wasn’t know as Huddle sent me these. (wow, I think I opened some sort of time warp or black hole with that sentence. Is there a grammar.com) Above is the cartoon version of Alby Miller. I think it is a terrific likeness as it looks like his bedroom/office and he actually has a shirt that looks just like that. Frightening.
This is the cartoon version of Squirrel Murphy. Pretty good likeness, but I don’t turkey hunt and skateboarding scares the heck out of me. I just do it to support the team. The expression is dead on because I am usually angry when I am cooking breakfast/skateboard turkey hunting while listening to angry music.
Shoe Shop Rewarded with Fake Award
Yes! I love awards; especially when we win them. Teton Village Sports was just voted the best shoe store in Teton Village WY by the U.S. Commerce Association. Huge news! Next we need to work on the valley, then the state, then parts unknown. The only problem with this award is that it is fake. Now I don’t know what kind of person has the time to sit around and make fake awards to send out, but I still kind of like it.
Keep up the good work T.V.S. Even though you won a fake award I still think you are the best around. Check out the shoes that made us win this prestigious fake award here.
Selk Bag 3G

The TVS crew spent the past week in Salt Lake City at the Outdoor Retailer show. We saw lots of great new gear for Summer 2010, but the product we are most excited about is the next generation of Selk Bags. The last generation was such a fun, exciting and huge product for us we can not wait to get our hands on 3G. The new Selk Bags have been updated to make this incredible product even better. If that is possible.
Some of the modifications are MP3/Media pockets, added grip on the soles and updated face fabrics and fill materials. The new bags should arrive in November 2009. There will be bags for kids as well as a down version.
Another Great Weekend
July has been filled with sporadic quick thunder and lightening storms mixed with lengthy days of clear skies and sunshine. It is a crime in Jackson if you don’t go play in the great outdoors every second the weather allows (or even when it doesn’t for the agro’s). Therefore we need all the appropriate gear available. Here’s some pictures of activities around the Tetons that you can do besides fish:
We ride bikes….

…. in Pearl Izumi
We ride horses….

…. in Patagonia
Then we go fishing just to make sure we’re not missing anything!

Hope everyone is having a great month!
Chicken Fry
Sunday afternoon I was fortunate enough to witness a an amazing combination of gastronomy and fundraising. The Wilson Volunteer Fire Department held their annual Chicken Fry fundraising event and it was all it is cracked up to be. I can’t believe I have lived here for 9 years and never attended. Not only is the food fantastic and economical, but anyone who is anyone was in attendance. I have no idea how much chicken the boys served up, but they had 4 or five huge vats filled will boiling oil and they were using devices that looked like huge pool cleaners to dip and remove the chicken. They also served delicious potato salad from huge dishes that looked like a foot locker and the ranch dressing (the only dressing available) for the salad was poured out of a 2 gallon drink container.
It was a delicious slice of Americana. I highly recommend going next year.
Muff’s Crazy Adventures
I’ve never been mountain bike riding with Teton Village Sports’s Lone Stag James “Muff” Muhlfeld. Maybe because he likes to go riding on the pass at night in the rain. Maybe it is because he has a water bottle strapped to the bottom of his bike. Whatever the reason, I’m glad he is so stoked to get out there. Did you know you can purchase a date with the Lone Stage? Check it out here.

Camping Gear

Spent last weekend doing a little camping/fishing/floating. Had a great time. Lots of fish and the weather was great. However, it made me realize that my camping set up needs a little work. For instance, you would think a guy who works for an outdoor gear retail would own something like this so that he didn’t have to rest his stove on the cooler.
This GSI micro cooking table would have been a great piece of equipment. It is light and collapsible and they are very reasonably priced. I hope to have one for the next trip. I think I made up for the lack of a table with these next two items.

The first image is a pie iron. Pie irons are great for campfire cooking. The second image is of the best tent ever. The North Face’s Trailhead 8!
