A summer filled with anticipation, curiosity, and maybe a little fear has ended with the arrival of the 2011 Volkl ski line. I spent my afternoons day dreaming of a spaceship in the shape of the Volkl symbol delivering the skis via teleport. Instead of a spaceship, they arrived in a Fed-Ex truck, none the less offering the same excitement. The sounds of ripping cardboard brought screams of joy and tears of pride. The 2011 class has two new freshman to introduce; the Volkl Kenja for her and Volkl Kendo for him. They boast the same free-ride capabilities that Volkl is know for while offering a slightly narrower waist. This seems like the perfect ski for those seeking a reasonable side cut with out sacrificing any performance beyond groomed runs. Right now I’m envisioning ripping a zipper line into a untracked 12.”
Last year, we saw Volkl revolutionize the Gotama and Kiku into powder machines. The rockered shape made for many smiles on powder days. In 2011, other then a slight update to the tip, Volkl decided to sick with the same design and update the graphic. The same rings true for the Mantra, AC50, Kuro, and Aura.
All in all, Volkl receives at A+ for the 2011 product line. The Kenja and Kendo both help define the new all-mountain free-ride and fill the void between carving ski and free-skiing. If your in the shop, check out the new line in person or stop by rentals for a demo.

This chair symbolises ‘merica. Very roomy and you can fit an entire 6 pack in the arms. I don’t know why you need a chair this big, but I also don’t know why I need cheese flavored like bacon. I just know that I want them both. God Bless ‘merica.

I don’t know how I feel about this. On one hand pets need a place to stretch their legs when on a road trip just like humans. On the other maybe you just move the pet area down the road to an area with fewer snakes.
Freelance correspondent and pro photo jock Chris Bezamat checked in from the East Coast. Apparently, we was at one of the Northeast’s greatest surf shops Cinnamon Rainbows recently. He traded his mom’s vintage bodyglove shortie wetsuit for a hoodie and a wetsuit rental. I think he should have held out for more because this thing is gorgeous! I’d like to see some pix of the Bez shredding “the wall” in Hampton in this vintage bodyglove. That would be worth more than a hoodie I assure you.
These pictures are of the same bear (sorry about the cropping I was in a hurry) taken by extreme fisherman Mike Spector in Grand Teton National Park. There has been a lot of scuttlebutt about whether this is a black bear or a grizzly. So I sent the photos to a biologist at G.T.N.P. and got the answer. Let’s see what you think it is.
